Dear Fellow Rhode Island Dance Community
My name is Julie Adams Strandberg. I have been a dancer in Rhode Island since 1967 as a performer, educator, choreographer, and dance community organizer. No doubt our paths have crossed over those years. It is Rhode Island after all.
I am writing to you now with a personal invitation to an event that celebrates dance in Rhode Island - past, present, and future - and the generations of dancers and dance supporters who have made and continue to make Rhode Island the vital dance community it is today.
On Tuesday July 21 from 5pm to 8pm there will be a potluck at a private home to share stories and memories about dance in Rhode Island and will unite generations of RI dancers to share the legacy of the past while reimagining the future of dance in Rhode Island.
For those of you who remember Deb Nash (1950-2012), this event will be particularly exciting. Deb was a ballroom dancer with her husband David Dougher and I am thrilled to let you know that David and some members of Deb's family will be in attendance to recall Deb’s impact on the dance community.
Deb created riDance.com, one of the largest dance websites in the country and was president of Dance Alliance of Rhode Island from 2004-2009. She was a frequent attendee at dance events: high school recitals, college performances, ballroom events, and modern and classical performances and promoted these events often reviewing them on the website to give them additional exposure.
Please RSVP to Julieadamsstrandberg@gmail.com if you can attend and I will let you know the location and other logistics.
Looking forward to seeing many of you on July 21st to celebrate dance in Rhode Island - Past, Present, and Future.
All The Best, Julie
