Our Mission

The Rhode Island Dance Alliance, established in 1983, is a nonprofit organization uniting Rhode Island’s diverse dance community to foster collaboration, creativity, and industry growth.

Our Vision

The Rhode Island Dance Alliance envisions a thriving and interconnected dance community where individuals of all backgrounds can grow their skills, explore their creativity, and collaborate to inspire audiences across Rhode Island and beyond. Through vibrant connections and shared opportunities, we aim to elevate dance as an essential and celebrated art form.

Our Values

RIDA is:

  • Creative

As dancers, artists, educators, and supporters of the arts, we are innovators, collaborators, and practitioners. 

  • Supportive

As an alliance, we acknowledge and embrace dance artists of all genres and approaches. We strive towards mutual accountability. 

RIDA fosters:

  • Well-being 

We believe that movement is inherent to human health and is a valuable means to cultivate joy and collective effervescence.

  • Growth

We support active participation in the dance community, which can include taking classes, dancing socially, workshops, teaching, reading, research, discussion, performance, events, connecting to related organizations/people, and more.

RIDA is your:

Creating a welcoming and safer environment is vital to supporting dance in Rhode Island. We aim to empower and encourage varied voices, foster belonging, and create an inclusive space for all.

As ambassadors of dance, we aim to amplify voices, represent our community, and promote our values.

As the Dance Alliance undergoes restructuring, we are seeking passionate individuals to serve on our board. We’re particularly looking for representatives from the following sectors:
