Who's Who @ RI2PN
a Rhode Island native, was first introduced to dance by members of the Rhode Island Dance Repertory Company (now the Arabella Project). She received her early training while dancing with Festival Ballet of Rhode Island, under the direction of the late Christine Hennessey. She attended The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, under scholarship as Promising Artist. Ms. Bodner went on to receive her BFA in dance from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She studied Irish dance technique and history at University College, Cork in Ireland. As Artistic Director of The Robin’s Egg, she has choreographed for Alive With Dance in Amherst, MA, Island Moving Company’s Flight of Steps and Open for Dancing in Newport, RI, as well as for The Theater Expansion’s 2005 Dancestravaganza at The Carriage House in Providence, RI. Ms. Bodner has been commissioned by The Theater Expansion for their performances of Painted Alice and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Ms. Bodner has performed with Nikki Carrara, and as a guest artist with The Arabella Project. She has taught ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, creative movement, and Irish dance in the Northampton, MA area as well as in Rhode Island. Ms. Bodner is on the faculty of the Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

a dance artist, photographer, and educator. Her work addresses the belief that Movement is a common language that allows diverse audiences and performers to experience the lives of each other, expanding our common consciousness. Ms Carrara has performed the dances of Daniel McCusker, Nathan Andary, Melody Ruffin-Ward, Henry LeTang, Elaine Colaneri, Timothy Rubel, and Tovah Bodner-Muro, among others. Her choreography has been presented in theatres, studios, art galleries, and fields throughout the region. Her dances have been produced by Andary Dance, Island Moving Company, Providence College, The Dance Complex, and Perishable Theatre, among others. From 2007-2010, Ms Carrara was a part of the RAPT (Resident Artist at Perishable Theatre) program, which was an incubator for several dance theatre projects. There, she co-directed DoubleShift Dance Theatre and also developed her own evening-length work, Interface. Ms Carrara shares her love and knowledge of dance with students of all ages, in private and public settings. Since 2007 she has worked with other dance professionals and the RI Department of Education to formulate and distribute K-12 Grade Span Expectations for the study of Dance as an academic subject in RI public schools. Since 2005, Ms Carrara has been a member of RI2PN, active in producing several events annually which showcase local live artists and exposes them to new audiences and venues.

Mary Langlois

Mary Langlois is a native of Rhode Island and a graduate from Rhode Island College. She has been dancing since the age of five and has studied all kinds of dance forms ranging from ballet to modern, and gymnastics to Irish step dancing. While in college Mary was fortunate enough to work with choreographers such as Sean Curran, Andrea E. Woods, Mary Paula Hunter, Alexandra Beller and many others. During the summer of 2006 She attended the American Dance Festival in Durham North Carolina. While there she trained with David Dorfman and Ishmel Houston Jones. Currently Mary is furthering her education and is focusing her studies in the circus arts. Her main concentration is aerial dance, and she also is studying contortion, tumbling, juggling, and tight wire walking. In September of 2009 Mary was involved in Interface, choreographed by Nikki Currara, which was performed at Providence's own Perishable Theater. Mary has been involved with RI2PN for a few years and is becoming more involved with the business aspect of helping to run an organization. Currently Mary is working as the Marketing staff and helping produce the 7th annual Frazier Festival. Mary wishes to further her dancing career and be more immersed in the arts world.

Aspiring woman of all trades, Katie is a RI native. Her dance studies began at Krylo Dance Studios; piano/music studies with the late Gabrielle Rondeau. Graduate of Rhode Island College, Katie achieved bachelor degrees in both Dance Performance & Music. Since college, Katie has performed with many local artists including Tovah Bodner-Muro (The Robin’s Egg), Nathan Andary (Andary Dance), Nikki Carrara, Peter Deffet, and most recently Olase Freeman (Bald Soul). Aside from dancing, Katie continues her exploration of the body through other various movement forms. She is a PMA certified Pilates instructor, and received her initial certification through Jen McWalters Studio, where she currently teaches. She has also completed somatic movement coursework through The Center for BodyMind Movement and is working towards certification as a Somatic Movement Educator. Katie shares her knowledge of the arts through teaching private piano lessons, and teaching classes with Chance to Dance – a major program of RI Dance Alliance. She has been a member of RI2PN since 2006, performing in several shows produced by the organization and most recently, stepping into the Development & Outreach shoes (preferably, tap shoes). Katie is very excited to help produce Frazier Festival 2010 and to collaborate with the many artists of all talents and disciplines!!!
